Another New Year in East Lansing

Finishing 2012…in the SNOW!!  😀
Happy New Year to All!

Obviously, I’m a little late posting a “Happy New Year” blog.  It’s been a hectic week-and-a-half between December 21st and today (January 1, 2013).  What with pulling together a Christmas dinner (granted, just for myself and InChul), trying to set up the next PCAC semester (basically, work was CRAZY), and planning a surprise birthday party for someone who turned 30 on New Year’s Eve (the added activities surrounding the holiday itself didn’t help either), I can easily say this may have been the busiest holiday seasons I have encountered yet.  I’m almost glad that it’s all over and we can resume our day-to-day mundane lives.

I can only say that because I only have three days of it
before heading down to warmer temperatures for 9 days…
DEEP SOUTH, HERE I COME!!  WOOHOO!!

While I could regale you with long-winded tales of my scrambling to make Christmas, InChul’s 30th Birthday, and New Year’s Eve/Day special this year, I will keep it short and sweet.

  1. Christmas Eve was spent doing laundry (by myself…InChul was working) and shopping for groceries and gifts at Best Buy (for us).  The only remotely festive aspect of the night (other than gift-buying) was drinking tea/hot chocolate while watching A Charlie Brown Christmas (both of them).
  2. This Christmas was the very first that InChul and I spent alone together.  I enjoyed sleeping in and spending the day doing pretty much nothing.  After dinner (homemade roast chicken and sides for two), we spent the evening watching Star Wars: A New Hope (which I’ve never watched in its entirety in one sitting and InChul has never seen at all).
  3. InChul’s 30th Birthday – We had already purchased a new watch for him earlier in the month, but I really wanted to do something special.  So we (his co-residents and I) threw him a surprise party.   It was fun.  😀
  4. New Year’s Eve/Day – Between our New Year’s toast with friends at Reno’s, eating 떡국 and 미역국, and then heading to NCG Cinema to watch Les Mis (this will be another post another time), it was a great way to usher in 2013.

All in all, 2012 was a great year for us, and we are so grateful for all of the blessings we have been given.
