"[Trying-to-Be] Fashionable Fridays": Deal of the Week (plus a few outfits)

I’m not even going to try and come up with a catchy intro to this week’s installment of “[Trying-to-Be] Fashionable Friday”.  All I will say as a prelude is that this blog is dedicated to the item that I am the MOST excited about obtaining this past week.  Let’s see if you can figure out what it is.

Are you ready?

Here we go.

Hair in need of desperate attention…wind doesn’t help.
Think you have it figured out?  No?  Okay, I’ll give you another hint.

Methinks I will be working on slimming the midsection this summer

So…what’s your final answer?
Did you say the boots?
DING! DING! DING!  You are correct!!
The boots were purchased during my birthday weekend from the Nine West Outlet Store in Howell, MI.  They are real leather uppers…they were the very last pair…they were exactly my size…and I got them at the BEST. PRICE. EVER!!
Nine West “Millicento” Boots
Suggested Retail =  $179.00
Outlet Store Price = $99.99
Sale Price = $39.99
What I Paid = $31.99
(with 20% off Tanger Outlet coupon)
That would be an 82% savings off the suggested retail price and a 68% savings off the outlet price.  With a price tag like that (plus the fact I had been seeking out a nice pair of real leather boots for several months now), I jumped on the deal.  That’s the key to smart clothes shopping, I think.  Plan ahead…look in your closet and decide what basic, staple items that you feel you need to help bring just about everything in your closet together…and when the deal arises, snatch it up!  While I probably won’t be able to wear these boots all that often until the Fall, they are a great addition to my wardrobe.
And now…my favorite outfit of the week…
Look, ma!  No winter coat!

I really can’t get enough of the summer-like weather…and I love the fact that I can put together outfits without worrying about whether I have enough layers to keep out the bitter cold.  While I do worry about whether I will get too hot, I think it’s a more than fair trade-off (but let’s see if I feel that way come July and August).

This particular outfit is one I’m really proud of because it was put together from pieces I’ve had in my closet for some time (at least over a year).   The only piece that is brand new is the Anne Klein watch (which I purchased with some Macy’s gift cards I received for my birthday).

You’ve actually seen the blouse before in this blog because I had posted a picture of it (and a couple other items) purchased during our excursion to the Birch Run Premium Outlets on InChul’s 29th birthday.  It was a pretty daring purchase for me…I’ve always been partial to plain, monochromatic clothing items.  This was the first time I had purposely chosen an article of clothing with multiple dynamic colors and pattern (that I didn’t already have in my closet).  Over a year later, it still works.

As for the capris, they were purchased many years ago from Sisley at Lenox Square Mall in Buckhead.  I had taken the advice of the saleslady and purchased a pair just a bit tighter than I would like (apparently would stretch out).  Big mistake!  It never really stretched out and I never felt comfortable wearing these capris.  But now that I’ve reduced my size a bit, I can finally fit into them and actually feel good.

So sometimes your own closet can become your personal mini-boutique.  Take a look today and see what outfits you can come up with.   😀
