When I woke up this morning, I was feeling relatively optimistic for a Monday. Sure, I had a long, busy, stressful week ahead of me, but I had a pretty good idea what I was getting into. I had a game plan in mind of how to get everything done (with the occasional email interruption from a student having a mini-meltdown about their grades). I was ready to tackle another busy Monday and week.
We were told officially today that another one of our co-workers were moving on to another job. While we are all happy for said soon-to-be-former-co-worker, we’re all bracing ourselves, expecting our daily task list to grow. This completely threw me off my game. Even though the “extra work” hasn’t really started, knowing I had another thing to add to my mental multitasking list shook me up. It’s only Monday, and already I feel as if my cognitive capacity quota has been exceeded. All I can do is hope I survive this week without having a mental breakdown.
So, if you could, please say a little prayer for me, that I will be able to keep it all together for the next several months (as the turn-around time for bringing in new people is usually around 6 months – and we need TWO of them!).
By the way, this outfit started out with a skirt. However, at lunchtime, I went home and changed into jeans…because I cope with mental turmoil better in jeans.
