"August Wardrobe Remix [Day 29, 30, and 31 of 31]": The End

Day 29 of 31: When in Doubt…

Top – Old Navy Women’s Chambray Shirt; BottomLOFT Outlet Store Modern Skinny Corduroy (similar); Shoes – G.H. Bass & Co. Outlet Black Flats (old); Necklace – New York & Company (no longer in stock)

When in doubt of what to wear on any given day, I always bring it back to my trusty chambray + jeans combo.  It also helps that this outfit is SUPER comfortable because I wore on one of my 12+ hour workdays.  Granted, it is far removed from what a respectable, professional administrative assistant would likely wear into the workplace.  But considering I was to be held captive for over 12 hours that day, I really could not care less.  I put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into my job, and I feel I should have enough job security to be able to get away with comfort over professional at times.

Day 30 of 31: GO GREEN!

Top – Colosseum Athletics MSU Spartan Polo Shirt (similar); BottomLOFT Outlet Store Modern Skinny Corduroy (similar); Shoes – Minnetonka Moccasins (c/o Amazon.com); Necklace – gift from InChul (Nicaragua Mission Trip)

COLLEGE FOOTBALL SEASON IS HERE!  And of course this means the donning of Spartan gear on any given Friday until the seasons ends.  If you were to see the campus from the skies, you would likely see swarms of people wearing green and white milling around campus (slightly resembling algae on water, probably).

Being the first Home game of the season, everyone was forced off campus (well, everyone’s CARS were forced off campus) by 3pm.  Not that I’m complaining, of course…any reason to end the work week early (and to start a long, Labor Day Weekend early) is welcome in my book.

FIGHT!  FIGHT!  RAH, TEAM, FIGHT!  Victory for MSU!!

 Day 31 of 31: Old, but New…

Top – Lace Top, label unknown (secondhand from friend – similar); Bottom – Jeans – (from Levi’s Outlet Store) Modern Rise Demi Curve Straight Leg Jeans; Shoes – Kenneth Cole REACTION Lots of Love Sandals; Necklace – Layered Rope Flowers Necklace; Bracelets – Forever21 Faceted Stretch Bracelet Set

While I will admit this top is “new,” I don’t think this would count as a “cheat outfit”.  Why?  I didn’t pay a cent for it.  In fact, this isn’t even a new top at all!  A co-worker gave me a slew of clothes she no longer wanted and I picked out a few things to keep.  This top in particular was something she mentioned I try on…because I’ve been wearing a lot of lace lately.  Lo and behold, I fell in love with it and now it’s one of my favorites (perfect fit, versatile and comfortable…what more could a girl ask for?).  So thank you to my co-worker!

And with that, thus endeth my “August Wardrobe Remix”.  This has been a great experience for me…not only because it allowed me to truly pare down my wardrobe to the pieces I love and actually wear (see my wardrobe purge post) and because of the money I saved not shopping for a month (well, ALMOST a month).  It’s also because I’ve learned to work with things I have…and to realize that having a working wardrobe doesn’t mean having a large one (though having something like THIS would be heavenly).  It just means having a few key versatile, functional pieces and a bit of wardrobing creativity and know-how.  I’m more grateful for the things I have now, and I don’t feel the need to buy new things every single weekend.

So all in all…I would call the “August Wardrobe Remix” a success.

Now on to other topics of interest…for a while anyway.  Trying to post outfits for 31 days is cumbersome and tiring (not to mention monotonous…sorry for that, readers!).  So I’m glad to be getting back to the occasional outfit post with many other life lessons to write about in between. So stay tuned, folks!

I hope everyone is enjoying their Labor Day Weekend!
