Peeling Back the Layers

If I were at home right now, I would be indoors, wrapped in a comforter, refusing to leave the comforts of my home for anything.  If I were home, I would be sitting around sipping hot tea or cocoa as I watch TV or read a book.  Because if I were home, I would be dealing with this…

…even worse, Monday and Tuesday!

But I’m not at home.  In fact, I am many miles away from home, enjoying temperatures many MANY degrees warmer than what we have back home.  We’re currently in Tampa, Florida visiting my in-laws…and escaping from the piles of snow and frigidly cold air.  Weather here is interesting…because one can experience three different seasons in one day, forcing me to change my attire accordingly.  But instead of changing, I thought it would be easier to simply put on layers to later be taken off as the day wore on (and got warmer).

Outfit #1 – 50s and cloudy in the morning (Fall)

[Early Morning Attire] Top – Lace Top, label unknown (secondhand from friend – similar); Bottom – J.Crew Factory Flare Skirt; Jacket – Gap Ponte Academy Blazer + Leather Jacket (gift from sister from Korea, similar style here); Tights – from Korea; Shoes – G.H. Bass & Co. Outlet Black Flats (old); Belt – Charming Charlie’s Lace Ruffle Stretch Belt (old); Necklace – Heart Pendant Gold Chain Necklace (gift)

Yes, it was cold enough to layer two jackets one top of each other.  I’m definitely still a Southerner (or simply a wimp) when it comes to temperatures below 60.

Michiganders, feel free to laugh at me all you want.

Outfit #2 – 65 and mostly sunny midday (Spring)
In case you can’t tell, this was my favorite part of the day – perfect balance of warm and cool!

[Midday Attire] Top – Lace Top, label unknown (secondhand from friend – similar); Bottom – J.Crew Factory Flare Skirt; Jacket – Gap Ponte Academy Blazer; Tights – from Korea; Shoes – G.H. Bass & Co. Outlet Black Flats (old); Belt – Charming Charlie’s Lace Ruffle Stretch Belt (old); Necklace – Heart Pendant Gold Chain Necklace (gift)

Just removed my leather jacket.  Otherwise, exactly the same.
Outfit #3 – Almost 80 and sunny late afternoon (Summer)
[Afternoon Attire] Top – Lace Top, label unknown (secondhand from friend – similar); Bottom – J.Crew Factory Flare Skirt; Shoes – Anne Klein iFlex Nude Pumps (c/o DSW; similar); Belt – Charming Charlie’s Lace Ruffle Stretch Belt (old); Necklace – Heart Pendant Gold Chain Necklace (gift)
Both jackets come off, as well as the black tights.
I also changed the shoes (thought I’d give my new nude pumps a spin).
So in one day, I ended up with three different outfits.  Granted, I had most of the pieces on the entire day, it’s amazing what the art of layering (and the removal of said layers) can accomplish in keeping one perfectly warm or cold.  I’m really looking forward to warmer weather back home…but it will be several months yet before I can pull something like this off there.

Going to enjoy the warmth as best I can before returning to the frigid Midwest.
