The sun is out, the winds are calm, and the air is warmer. I had almost lost hope that Spring would ever make it here to East Lansing, Michigan. But it looks like hope is renewed that this winter funk is all but gone.
But despite the great news that Spring is really going to grace us with its presence this year, hearts are heavy in East Lansing…especially in the An household…as the Michigan State Spartans just fell in the Elite Eight to the Huskies of UConn. As ridiculous as it may sound to those who do not follow sports, when you are die-hard fans and lovers of all things sports related, you mourn when the team you so love miss the opportunity to go all the way…or at least to the NCAA Final Four, in this case (especially for Adreian Payne, Keith Appling, and Dan Chapman…first senior class under Izzo not to make it to a Final Four during their time as Spartans).
We have cheered them on in their home…and welcomed them
(via TV) into ours for months now. Close friends.
We just have to keep believing that the pain of loss will pass, and we will begin preparing ourselves for the next major sports season (MSU Spring Football is just around the corner). The sun will rise as the new day dawns, and hope will be renewed. Especially since this could possibly mean that both Gary Harris and Branden Dawson may choose to stay another year at MSU before heading to the NBA Draft (no great loss without some small gain, right?).
